Client: USACE Louisville
Location: Arsenal Island, IL
Scope of Work:
- Supplemental remedial investigation/feasibility study
- Removal action
- Proposed Plan
- Decision Document
Brice, as managing partner of a JV, completed a performance-based, supplemental RI/FS and environmental remediation at Rock Island Arsenal (RIA) site RIA-015, the Coal and Ash Pile Storage Area. This non time critical removal action (NTCRA) consisted of the removal of coal, coal ash, and associated contaminated soil, and site restoration. Brice also installed additional groundwater monitoring wells to augment the existing groundwater monitoring network, conducted quarterly groundwater sampling, and assisted in generating the Proposed Plan and Decision Document required by CERCLA.
During project execution, additional coal ash was discovered in the area north of the NTCRA location, resulting in a site boundary expansion. Brice investigated the area and prepared the data for inclusion into the final RI/FS document.
Brice worked closely with multiple stakeholders throughout project execution, including IEPA, Army Environmental Command, USACE, and RIA Directorate of Public Works and within the Installation Restoration Program to ensure compliance with requirements and expectations. Work was completed in compliance with CERCLA.
